Visit the Appeals Division

A non-prevailing party in a case may ask a higher court to review the decision in their case and determine if the decision was correct. They may do this by filing an appeal or, in some instances, a writ.

Visit the Civil Division

The Civil  Division assists parties with cases involving: recovery of money or property in  non-contract civil disputes or contract enforcement; civil rights, and,  landlord tenant actions.

Visit the Criminal Division

The  Criminal Division has jurisdiction over felonies, misdemeanors, infractions.

Visit the Family Court Services Division

The Family  Court Services Division hears matters involving family-related issues and  domestic relations.

Visit the Small Claims Division

The Small  Claims Division handles cases that do not exceed $10,000 and are resolved  quickly and inexpensively with relatively simple and informal rules.

Visit the Traffic Division

The  Traffic Division has jurisdiction over Vehicle Code violations and local  ordinance violations

MANDATORY ELECTRONIC FILING

Effective July 1, 2021 electronic filing is mandatory for all civil case types: Unlimited, Limited, Small Claims, Probate and Guardianships, Family Law, Family Support, Adoption and Mental Health. Exceptions will apply. Self-Represented parties are exempt from the mandatory electronic filing requirement pursuant to California Rules of Court section 2.253(b)(2).
