Jury Service
The right to a trial by jury is a privilege that applies to both criminal and civil cases and is recognized as the foundation of the American court system, guaranteed by both U.S. and California Constitutions.
The Kings County Superior Court is warning the public of a phone scam after receiving reports of calls received requesting money for failing to appear for jury service. The Kings County Superior Court does not make contact, nor do we authorize any outside agency, to contact individuals via telephone to collect fines for failing to appear for jury service. If you receive such a call, you are advised to hang up and not provide the caller with money or any personal information. If you have questions regarding the legitimacy of a phone call you receive, you may contact the court at (559) 582-1010, Option 2.
